Note about my Reviews

Dear Authors: The reviews in this blog are only personal opinions. I have absolutely no background in literature, writing or reviewing. I am a Librarian (actually a Library Technician for those who care OR know the difference) with a love for a good story. The opinions in the reviews are ONLY my OPINIONS. I am not commenting on the writers ability since well -- I am not a writer and never will be. If you are the author of any of the books reviewed here, my opinion is just that and not a judgment against you!

    The Yank and The Newf:
A Newfie, a little man, was sitting at a bar in Toronto when this huge, burly American guy walks in. As he passes the Newfie, he hits him on the neck knocking him to the floor. The big, burly Yank says, "That's a karate chop from Korea." Well, the Newfie gets back on his barstool and resumes drinking his beer.

The burly American then gets up to go to the bathroom and, as he walks by the Newfie, he hits him on the other side of the neck and knocks him to the floor. "That's a judo chop from Japan", he says.

The Newfie decides he's had enough and leaves. A half hour later he
comes back and sees the burly American sitting at the bar. He walks
up behind him and smacks him on the head, knocking him out.

The Newfie says to the bartender, "When he wakes up, b'y, tell en
dat was a frickin' crowbar from Canadian Tire."

p.s. Congrads on first giveaway and HAPPY EARLY BIRTHDAY!

  51. +1 I've read so many great books/authors, but my current favs are Patricia Briggs and Ilona Andrews. They are such great story tellers. Aside from that, my all time fav is an author named Dorothy Dunnett who wrote a historical series set in 16th century Scotland called The Lymond Chronicles. It's one of the densest historicals I've ever read, but so rewarding to the reader and the hero is to die for if you like "antihero" types with an edge of danger.

+1 Regarding reviews - I understand that some bloggers don't like to post negatives, but without them, it just sounds like the blogger loves everything and has no discrimination between good and bad. I don't tend to respect those opinions as much.

    +5 follower of disorganized ramblings.

It's been nice to see how many book lovers also love Chuck and Castle -- seems we have great taste! Thanks for input on book reviews, all the comments have been so helpful!

  57. JenM - Thanks for the comments - I agree about your point about negative reviews. You do have to expect when you write one the author - just may find your review and make their own comments. Check out my post on Nate Banks and you will see what I mean
Thanks for the suggestions on the book series too

  58. Wicked this is just in time for my birthday (May 10th). My favorite author is Kim Harrison.

I like to see a sense of humor. I love it when a book review makes me laugh.

    Blog roll:

    I watch Castle

Joke: A first grade teacher explains to her class that she is an American. She asks her students to raise their hands if they were American too.
Not really knowing why but wanting to be like their teacher, their hands explode into the air like flashy fireworks.
There is, however, one exception. A girl named Kristen has not gone along with the crowd.
The teacher asks her why she has decided to be different. "Because I am not an American."
"Then", asks the teacher, "what are you?"
"I'm a proud Canadian," boasts the little girl.
The teacher is a little perturbed now, her face slightly red. She asks Kristen why she is a Canadian. "Well, my mom and dad are Canadians, so I'm a Canadian too."
The teacher is now angry. "That's no reason," she says loudly. "What if your mom was a moron, and your dad was a moron. What would you be then?"
A pause, and a smile. "Then," says Kristen, "I'd be an American."
