Note about my Reviews

Dear Authors: The reviews in this blog are only personal opinions. I have absolutely no background in literature, writing or reviewing. I am a Librarian (actually a Library Technician for those who care OR know the difference) with a love for a good story. The opinions in the reviews are ONLY my OPINIONS. I am not commenting on the writers ability since well -- I am not a writer and never will be. If you are the author of any of the books reviewed here, my opinion is just that and not a judgment against you!

WINNIPEG _ U.S. rocker John Mellencamp has signed on as the official spokesman for the Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus Association of Canada, which has its headquarters in Winnipeg.
``It's very exciting, very exciting,'' association spokeswoman Bonnie Hidlebough said Saturday.
``We're just thrilled that he even considered giving us the go-ahead.''
Mellencamp suffers from a mild case of spina bifida, a neurological disease, and Hidlebough said the Indiana-born recording artist quickly agreed to help out when contacted by the Canadian association.
She said the not-for-profit organization hopes seeing a famous face _ which made its debut on a series of corporate mailers sent out last week _ will help raise awareness of the disease.
``He has spina bifida but leads such a productive life,'' she said of Mellencamp. ``He's just showing us that you can use your talents. Also that he really cares about people.''
Hidlebough estimated one in every 1,300 babies born in Canada suffers from some form of the disease. Symptoms range from minor, often undetected back problems to paralysis.
It's currently the No. 1 disabling birth defect in Canada, she said.
Medical research shows the condition is caused by a lack of folic acid during the first three or four weeks of pregnancy. Hidlebough said much of the association's work is promoting that fact.
``We know that getting the information out and the awareness, in the pre-childbearing years, is very important,'' she said. ``When most women find out they're pregnant, it's already there.''

Daniel Craig's licence to marry
Daniel Craig
(BANG) -Daniel Craig has got engaged to girlfriend Satsuki Mitchell. The James Bond star proposed to the American film producer during the filming of the latest 007 movie, 'Quantum of Solace', in Panama.
An on-set source said: "Satsuki visits during shooting every day. They are so loved-up. He asked her to marry him and she's been showing off a very beautiful Cartier ring. It has a large diamond solitaire with a platinum setting."
It is thought the couple - who met on the set of 2005 movie 'The Jacket' - will tie the knot when the movie wraps.
The source added to Britain's The Sun newspaper: "Daniel and Satsuki are now stronger than ever. They want an intimate ceremony."
Daniel recently proclaimed the secret behind his successful relationship is hard work.
He said: "Relationships don't take care of themselves. Romance is fine but it's not about expensive hotels and beautiful locations - it's about being with the right person and feeling close to them. Being in love takes a lot of work."
The 40-year-old star - who has previously been romantically linked to Sienna Miller and Kate Moss - also claimed he is a good boyfriend because he respects women.
He said: "I have a huge respect for women, which I've learned from my mother and my sister, but that does not mean I haven't made mistakes." (C) BANG Media International
