Note about my Reviews

Dear Authors: The reviews in this blog are only personal opinions. I have absolutely no background in literature, writing or reviewing. I am a Librarian (actually a Library Technician for those who care OR know the difference) with a love for a good story. The opinions in the reviews are ONLY my OPINIONS. I am not commenting on the writers ability since well -- I am not a writer and never will be. If you are the author of any of the books reviewed here, my opinion is just that and not a judgment against you!

Well, I did it with the help of Crystal and Sherry.  I walked 10k and raised $749 for the SB&H.  I am really impressed with myself considering that day I also did a 1 hour personal training session with Crystal, shifted the magazines and still was able to do the 10K walk!  A very grateful thank you to all of you who donated to the cause, it really does mean a lot to Jeff, Jake and Me -- and all those others with Spina Bifida or Hydrocephalus. And remember ladies, if you are having sex -- take your Folic Acid!
Here is a picture of the 3 of us after our walk.  We had an amazing time chatting and giggling and we even got to see a Deer -- who was less than 5 feet away from us -- Very Cool!!

I know really exciting title -- but hey its my 1st day back of work since Friday at 3:00 and the brain isnt working like it should (not that it ever does)
Well it was definately an interesting weekend.  We started off Friday night with Jake getting his Green Belt in Karate.  He did great eventhough he was pissed at us because we forgot (all Jeffs fault for a change) to bring his sparing equipment.

Saturday we decided to go to the Zoo since it has been a long time.  Almost a whole year since we have been and trust me that is a long time for us, since we love it there.  My otters were sleeping but other than that we had a great time.  We went to the "Stingray Bay" exhibit and got to touch some stingrays which was very cool.  Jake was a little scared at first, but soon got into the whole thing.  I would seriously recommend everybody spend the extra $3 and take part in this exhibit.  I didn't take too many pictures, because I already have tons of photos at the Zoo.  As usual something different happens everytime we visit the Zoo -- and this time was no exception.  Although quite frankly I hope never to experience this one again.  A lovely bored gorilla thought it would be really cool to eat his own feces, throw it up and than eat it again.  Jake thought that was super cool --  me with my queesy pregnancy stomach really didnt enjoy the experience : ) Guess you wont see that advertised on the zoo site anytime soon.

As for Sunday and Monday -- well lets just say its all a blur. I either picked up something nasty at the Zoo or from dinner and ended up being violently sick.  Projectile vomiting and everything -- lots of fun.  Although, I am pretty sure my Mom (the Nurse) would be proud of me for the fact that I cleaned it up myself.  So basically Sunday I puked all day and Monday I recovered from it. Unfortunately, it meant that Jake and I couldnt go to Centreville as we had planned and Jeff had to take him for his appointment with Dr Dirks at Sick Kids : (    We were really looking forward to it too and Jeff had to miss almost a day of work for a 15 minute appointment.
We decided to take it easy on Canada Day since I still wasnt feeling that great.  We spent half of the day fishing at Glen Haffey and the rest of the day just playing around the house.  After Jake went to bed we watched 2 more episodes of Dexter - Season 2.  Awesome series -- go rent it now!  Looking forward to picking up disc 5 of Bones Season 2 tonight -- After looking this entry over I cannot believe how boring my life sounds ; )

I  am going to be taking part in this on July 10th.  Some of the fitness staff at Humber and myself will be doing a 10K Walk or Run in the Humber Arboretum to help raise funds for the Spina Bifida & Hydrocephalus Association of Ontario
As most of you know this is a very important cause for me because of my son Jake.  Jake is quite lucky that his Spina Bifida is quite mild compared to other children.  However, in the course of raising him and talking about him I am amazed at how little people know about this disability.  And also by some of the extremely rude things people say to me or him about his disability.
Please help us by donating as much as you can.  You can also help out by joining me in this walk, Donating and /or telling all your friends, business' and families about it.  Donations can be given to me or online at:
On the above mentioned page under Fund/Designation, please choose 2008 Spirit Wheel Walk Run and put my name Jennifer Rayment in the message box underneath.
Your contribution will make a difference in the struggle to support individuals with Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus. Thank you for getting in the Spirit!
If you cannot help out in any way that is cool too.  Just pass on the info to everyone you know and remember girls, if you are having sex, you should be taking folic acid.  By the time most of us realize that we are pregnant the babies spinal cord has started to form and if you are lacking in folic acid, the damage has already started.  Also remember that just taking folic acid might not be enough.  I took it for a least 5 months before I got pregnant and during my entire pregnancy with Jake, and he still has Spina Bifida.  But I truly believe that the reason his Spina Bifida is so mild, is because I took the folic acid BEFORE I got pregnant.
For more information about Spina Bifida check out my links under spinabifida at
Thanks for all your help

Some days my job is the best job on earth.  Yesterday Justin Trudeau was the keynote speaker for the annual Humber College Showcase.  He gave a truly inspiring talk and I believe Canada would do well and move forward if he was to be our PM.   He is charismatic, forthright, down to earth and has a wondeful sense of humour.  He definately has some of the spirit of his father in him.  Honestly, if there were more people like him in politics, I think as a nation we would all become more involved in politics.  Hopefully he doesnt lose himself in the very jaded world of the politicians.  He inspired me to become more involved in making changes.
Ok Serious stuff aside -- the man is totally hot too.  At one point in his talk he combed his fingers through his hair and I swear half the women in the audience swooned.  I have a couple of pictures and a short video that didnt turn out too good.  Hopefully they will post the hightlights on our website and then  I can post a link for you all to see.
You think Jeff would object if I suggested we move to his home riding of Papineau, Quebec?
Posted 6/6/2008 at 10:8 AM

So he's actually a politician right now? I didn't know he had a riding.
